Is the Road to Riches Paved with REO Investments? The answer is YES!!
It is obvious that the economy is in a catastrophic state at the moment, but even so the opportunities for investing real estate have never been better. With so many houses in one state of foreclosure or another and so many people defaulting on their mortgages and loans, now is the perfect time for the avid investor to cash in on the multitude of deals that are ready to be made. There is such an overwhelming number of homes and properties that are currently owned by the bank or other lenders. REOs are quickly becoming one of the hottest commodities and investment opportunities in today's real estate market. Never before in history has there been a better time to invest in the real estate market, and even more so in real estate owned properties. Now is the time to take advantage the state of our current economic situation.
Ask any expert, and surely he/she will tell you that the number of foreclosures and REOs that will be on the market can be expected to in increase substantially for at least three more years. Most people were shocked at the number of foreclosures and REOs on the market during the first quarter of this year, and now it seems the even bigger shocker is that the level of mortgage defaults actually got even higher in second quarter of 2009.
Unemployment is currently at the highest rate than it has been in over 26 years. Add to that the fact that there are more than 15 million homeowners owe more on their mortgages than their homes are even worth and you have the perfect situation for the avid real estate investor.
Most of these houses are being sold for far below market value, and extremely far below the price they would have been purchased for when homes were at their peak several years ago. In addition, if you are in considering investing in an REO with the intent of buying it, "flipping," and selling it within a short period of time, you have the potential to make a pretty quick profit relatively quickly. This is another reason why business of buying and selling REOs has gained such popularity.
The fact is that there is such an overload of REOs on the market right now the banks and other lenders are overloaded with so much distressed inventory. Banks are more than willing to sell this inventory because it is ultimately in their best interest to do so.
